Youth Recreation & Athletics
The purpose of community education-sponsored youth sports and recreation programs is to provide a positive first learning experience to sports. The focus is on teaching the basic fundamental skills and techniques, providing maximum participation, learning athletics in a fun, safe and positive environment as well as learning about teamwork and sportsmanship.

Archery
Westonka Community Education & Services offers youth archery during the winter/spring and also the summer seasons. The archery program will allow participants to sharpen their skills and learn the sport of archery. Coaches will teach proper techniques to safely enjoy the sport and lay the groundwork to enjoy for a lifetime. Skills will include safety, stance, shooting techniques and scoring.
Baseball
Westonka Community Education & Services in cooperation with the Westonka Youth Baseball League offer a baseball opportunity for all ages. The In-House Program is designed for players ages 3 -8 years of age. This introductory program will focus on teaching participants the basic fundamental skills and rules of baseball through fun games and activities. Volunteer coaches lead players through a season of baseball skill development and fun.
During the Fall season there are also multiple youth baseball camps to provide the chance to refine the skills learned during the summer seasons. The Rookie Skills Clinic, White Hawks Hitting Clinic and White Hawks Pitching Clinic are great opportunities for more baseball exposure and skill development.
The Westonka Youth Baseball League provides the opportunity for travel baseball starting at 9 years old. Players ages 9-14 tryout for travel teams in the Fall of the year. Teams are formed based upon tryout scores and players are placed teams. We currently have multiple teams at the 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U levels. The higher level teams participate in the Gopher State Baseball League, while the lower level teams participate in the Crow River Baseball League.
Basketball
Westonka Community Education & Services offers a variety of basketball offerings for youth basketball players. Programs start for players as young as 3 years old all the way up to summer training opportunities for high school varsity players. Our goal is to teach the game to young players in a fun environment that makes them want to spend hours in the gym as their love of the game develops! A variety of programs and camps are offered during the course of the year to allow players to work on their game.
In November the Fall Skills Development program is offered. This program is designed to give participants the opportunity to knock the dust off and brush up on their basketball skills before the season starts in November. The program will focus on developing skills and techniques through a variety of dribbling, passing, and shooting drills. This program is great for beginner or experienced players.
The Westonka Community Education Youth Basketball Program is offered during the Winter season. This introductory program will focus on teaching participants the basic fundamental skills and rules of basketball through fun games and activities. Players will be able to consistently improve during this six week program.
As the summer months heat up there are multiple opportunities for players to get into the gym to work on their game. Westonka Community Education & Services offers summer youth camps for younger players and also works with the Westonka High School boys and girls teams to offer summer training programs and multiple camps for all aspects of the game.
Dance
Westonka Community Education & Services teams up with the Hawkettes dance team to offer dance camps, clinics and halftime performances for your young dancer! The Fall season offers the chance for your dancer to participate in the Junior Hawkettes Clinic and Football Halftime Performance. This one-day clinic will have dancers working to learn a dance that they will then perform at halftime of the White Hawks varsity football game.
The Junior Hawkettes Dance Camp is a week-long dance camp sponsored by the Westonka High School dance team. Participants will learn dance technique (jazz and kick), along with three dance routines. Dancers in sixth and seventh grade groups will focus on Hawkettes Dance Team tryout prep!
Tennis
Participants in the White Hawks Youth Tennis Program will play on shorter courts with smaller rackets, and with slower-moving, lower-bouncing tennis balls. Participants will play tennis made just for them so that they have a great time and want to keep playing and improving. Instructors will guide you through the many ways kids can get started in the game, continue playing and eventually compete against others!
The White Hawks Youth Tennis Program has sessions in the fall, spring and summer seasons. All sessions take place at the high school tennis courts.

WESTONKA YOUTH FOOTBALL (WYF)
Westonka Youth Football is a volunteer organization operated through Westonka Community Education and Services. WYF provides a great opportunity for kids to participate in organized skills development, flag football, and tackle football. We are dedicated to offering young people in grades kindergarten through sixth grade an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football and the value of teamwork in a safe and fun environment.
FALL PROGRAMMING
The Westonka Youth Football (WYF) program begins in Kindergarten with a developmental skills program that runs through 2nd grade. In grades 3rd through 4th, the Westonka Youth Football program forms flag football teams and participates in an In-House program. In grades 5th through 6th, the Westonka Youth Football program forms tackle football teams and competes against other area programs/schools, including Westonka, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Maple Lake, Rockford, and Watertown-Mayer in the Wright, Carver, and Hennepin Area (WCHA) Football League.

MINI-HAWKS MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (GRADES K-2)
This introductory football program will focus on teaching kids the basic fundamental skills and rules of football through fun games and activities. Equipment and instruction will be age appropriate and participants will be grouped according to age and/or ability level. Programming will take place on Monday nights. Instruction will be provided by the White Hawks varsity coaching staff and players.
FLAG FOOTBALL (GRADES 3-4)
The Westonka Youth Football Flag Football League is offered for 3rd and 4th graders. This in-house league features players participating in two weekly practices and Saturday game days as they compete against each other in flag football. The players develop skills necessary for success on the field in a fun and safe environment.
TACKLE FOOTBALL (GRADES 5-6)
Westonka Youth Tackle Football is offered for 5th and 6th graders. Players will practice two nights a week and learn the proper fundamentals of football and correct tackling techniques. Teams will be formed and compete against other local communities including Westonka, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Maple Lake, Rockford, and Watertown-Mayer on Saturday mornings in the Westonka, Carver, and Hennepin Area (WCHA) Football League.
SUMMER CAMPS
The summer season allows for skill development opportunities through various camps. The Westonka Youth Football Basic Skills Camp (Grades 1-6), the White Hawks Football Skills Camp (Grades K-4), the White Hawks Football Developmental Camp (Grades 5-8), the Westonka Football Big Man OL/DL Camp (Grades 7-8), and the Westonka Football Passing Academy (Grades 5-8) are all great opportunities to improve as a player in a safe environment with instruction being provided by the White Hawks varsity coaching staff and players.

Hockey
Westonka Community Education & Services offers the Learn to Skate and the Learn to Figure Skate programs for those that are new to the ice. These lessons will provide the basic fundamentals of skating for those just lacing up the skates, or those that want to sharpen their skills. Parents are encouraged to accompany their skater on the ice and join in the fun.
Westonka Community Education & Services partners with the Westonka Hockey Association to put on the Mini-Hawks Ice Hockey Rookie Camp in the Fall. This program is intended for players that have not had experience playing hockey. Rookie Camp is a great opportunity for young players to be introduced to hockey in a fun, relaxed and supportive environment. Equipment will be provided if needed.

Soccer
Westonka Community Education & Services offers Youth Soccer for both the Fall and Spring Seasons. This program is an introduction to the game of soccer and will teach players the skills and rules of soccer through drills, fun games and activities. Volunteer coaches lead players through skill development drills and mini-games at each practice to get kids hooked on soccer! There are age specific programs for youth ages 3 - 9.
Westonka Community Education & Services and Head Boys' Coach Wayne Bellamy offer the Junior Hawks Soccer Camp (ages 6-13) and the White Hawks Soccer Camp (ages 14-18) early in the summer to get a jump on skill development during the summer. As the season inches closer the White Hawks Pre-Season Soccer Camp can help to kickstart the season.
Softball

Swimming
Volleyball
Westonka Community Education & Services offers a variety of volleyball playing opportunities for all ages and skill levels.
The Mini-Hawks Volleyball program is for players in grades K-2. Each class will start with some demonstrations for learning the basics of the game. After demonstrations, the players can "play" in an open gym format. Players and chaperones will work on skills together with light trainer volleyballs.
Junior Hawks Volleyball is focused on basic to intermediate volleyball skills of passing, setting, and serving. The main goal of these sessions is to have fun, work on volleyball skills and introduce some strategies and rules of the game.
Middle School Girls Volleyball will focus on teaching the basic fundamental skills and rules of volleyball as well as prepare students to compete at the middle and high school levels. This is a great opportunity for participants to refine their skills and techniques. Practice times vary based on gym availability. Fifth and sixth graders will have separate practices to maximize skill development and instruction. Practices will be on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and matches will be played vs area schools in the Waconia Youth Volleyball League.
The Spring season bring with it the White Hawks Volleyball Clinic. This clinic is 3 days of volleyball fun working on fundamental skills of the game. The clinic is broken down into three groups: Grades K-2, Grades 3 & 4, and Grades 5 & 6.
The Summer is the perfect time to get geared up for the upcoming fall season with both Youth and High School level camps. The Junior Hawks Youth Volleyball Camp (K - 2) and White Hawks Youth Volleyball Camp (grades 3 -7) are both offered for youth players. There are also summer long opportunities for middle school and high school players with the White Hawks Middle School Volleyball Summer Training Program and the White Hawks High School Volleyball Summer Training Program.
Wrestling
Westonka Community Education & Services in cooperation with Westonka Youth Wrestling offer a variety of wrestling opportunities during the fall and winter seasons for the purpose of promoting and fostering the sport of wrestling at all levels.
The fall offers introductory courses such as Intro to Elementary Wrestling and Intro to Middle School Wrestling. These courses are great opportunities for new wrestlers to try wrestling for the first time, but also for experienced wrestlers to get a jump start on the winter season. The basic fundamentals and techniques of the sport are taught in a fun environment by experienced coaches. The fall also offers Competition Team Wrestling where wrestlers who plan to compete in tournaments at the state and national level are able to work on advanced techniques and compete in live wrestling during practices.
As the winter settles in the wrestling season starts heating up with the Youth Wrestling program. This program consists of two nights a week of practice where wrestlers experience technique training, drills, live wrestling and fun games. The program is offered for pre K - Grade 6 wrestlers and runs into February and March.
Westonka Community Education & Services also teams with the Westonka High School wrestling team to offer White Hawks Summer Wrestling. This summer training program will focus on keeping wrestlers skills and techniques sharp during the off-season. White Hawks Summer Wrestling will be emphasizing basic to advanced techniques while incorporating drilling and live wrestling. This camp will be appropriate for veteran wrestlers as well as athletes new to the sport.
